It’s 1993 and Lina, a Lebanese student, arrives in Paris to start university, only to find the chaos that was home is no different to what she will find in the French capital. But Paris will offer her the opportunity to find herself and acquire a new self confidence. The film explores the unique freedom that someone can feel when arriving in a foreign country, as well the inherent trouble in integrating with a new culture, charting the stages of Lina s evolution – in intellectual, emotional, and sexual terms – from naive migrant to the Parisienne of the title.
