Danny the Champion of the World
Malvern Theatre Players
(Resident company of the Coach House Theatre)
40th Season
Danny the
Champion of the World
by Roald Dahl
(adapted for the stage by David Wood)
Danny lives happily in a gypsy caravan with his devoted father and works part time in the village garage. However, his life is turned upside down when he learns about his father’s secret passion for pheasant poaching on the estate of nasty, greedy Victor Hazell, the landowner. Following his father’s failure to return from one of his poaching expeditions Danny sets out on a courageous journey to rescue him. Enlisting the help of the villagers he finds himself the mastermind behind the most incredible and exciting plot ever attempted against the horrible landowner.
David Wood’s play captures the spirit or Roald Dahl’s much loved story in a heart-warming, uplifting, funny and fast moving way.
