Reel Time: Jules et Jim (Jules and Jim) @ The Coach House Theatre

In 1912, in Paris, the French Jim meets the Austrian, Jules and they begin a great friendship. When they meet the fickle and independent French Catherine, they both immediately fall in love with her. But Catherine loves Jules and so marries him. After the war, when they meet again in Germany, Catherine falls in love with Jim … This is the story of three people in love, a triangle of love which does not affect their friendship, and tells how their relationship evolves with the years.

REEL TIME at the COACH HOUSE

A weekend of films celebrating the multi award winning director, François Truffaut.

This weekend’s programme comprises three classic black and white films interleaved with three notable colour ones. We begin with Truffaut’s first full-length feature film, Les Quatre Cents Coups (B&W) and include his last, Vivement Dimanche , where he reverted to black and white in his tribute to Alfred Hitchcock. Truffaut was an expert on Hitchcock and a great admirer of his work. He died of a brain tumour at 52, hardly a year after completing Vivement Dimanche.
