Within the framework of ‘The Ret
urn’\, a one-woman show about the intergenerational effects of
\nwar
we developed a workshop based on the themes we are exploring in the piece
– living through
\na war\, leaving one’s country\, and building a new
life and a sense of belonging. Through drama
\ngames\, improvisation
and devising techniques\, workshop participants get a taste of what goes<
br />\ninto dramatising life experience. Participants work in groups and u
se stimuluses such as objects\,
\nimages\, or poems to devise stories
and make performances.
\n
This workshop provides a safe environment
for the participants to take risks and try something
\nnew. It encour
ages participants to explore their creative potential and share stories. A
\ncollaborative nature of the workshop nurtures interpersonal skills
\, promotes teamwork\,
\ncommunication\, and develops a sense of comm
unity.

The Return is a devised one-woman show
exploring hidden consequences of war. The story\, based on experience of l
iving in Croatia during the breakup of former Yugoslavia is fragmented and
collaged. It unveils an aspect of a family history\, explores the surreal
circumstances around a conflict building up and what goes into surviving
it. Combining movement\, storytelling\, and poetry\, this profoundly perso
nal story investigates how living through war has affected where Natasha i
s now.

circus skills a go yourself with a supervised 1 hour long workshop. Learn

LAST TANGO IN LITTLE GRIMLEY – Little Griml
ey Amateur Dramatic Society is in trouble. The membership has dwindled to
four – the audiences aren’t much bigger – and if they don’t come up with s
ome rent money soon\, they’re going to be thrown out. “There’s only one th
ing that sells tickets these days” argues Gordon the Chairman. “Sex!” Thus
begins the chaotic and hilarious build-up to an evening of extraordinary
home-grown drama – an evening the locals would never forget!

THE FAT LADY SINGS IN LITTLE GRIMLEY – Gordon\, Margaret\, Joy
ce and Bernard tackle yet another threat to their survival – this time in
the shape of a rival am-dram\, newly-formed in their village\, determined
to upstage them with an award-winning musical. The querulous quartet pull
together to devise an ingenious military-style plan that doesn’t go quite
to plan. When their subterfuge is discovered by the rival society’s psycho
pathic front-of-house manager\, he’s none too pleased. Add in a few emotio
nal complications for Gordon\, and things look a little grim for Little Gr
imley. Could this finally be the end of their society?

ry home-grown drama\, as diva Margaret\, timid Joyce and reluctant Bernard
are drawn into producing an event the locals will never forget.

the 1847 farce\, Box & Cox.

This was Sullivan’s first su
ccessful comic opera\, written 5 years before his first opera with W. S Gi
lbert.

The story concerns two lodgers\, one who works at night and
one who works during the day\, unknowingly sharing a room\, let by a cunn
ing landlord. This works very well (for the landlord)\, until one of them
has the day off and they meet each other in the room.
